Minisode 3: A Wooden Spoon & Lives Well Lived featuring Filmmaker Sky Bergman

Look & listen as filmmaker Sky Bergman shares her love for/with her grandmother through the story of her grandmother’s wooden spoon. She feels her grandmother’s juju every time she uses it. Her grandmother was a great cook, and like many great cooks never wrote a recipe down. After spending so much connection building time in the kitchen with her grandmother, Sky knew that the only way she would capture the recipes would be to videotape her grandmother cooking.

This idea inspired her to film her grandmother and 39 other people over 75 years old for her PBS feature film Live Well Lived (https://www.lives-well-lived.com). Her main question was how would they define a life well lived. Take the time to watch it with family & friends.

Sky credits her grandmother for inspiring her to become a film maker, for her passion for intergenerational connections and how food connects us to one another. She encourages you to believe that anything is possible and shared her grandmother’s favorite saying “Always be kind”.

This short story was clipped from my live virtual Show & Tale: Significant Objects in the fall of 2021 which encourage us to build connections, community & legacy one story of stuff at a time.
